Although it hasn't been confirmed, nor has much been revealed about it, there is that small chance that the upcoming Supergirl television series could be tied into the "Arrow" and "The Flash" universe. Having the same producer (Greg Berlanti) makes a cross-over possible. Some will scoff at the idea, others will embrace it. Regardless, there are many possibilities as to how this could play out if it happens.
One possibility could be to have each show cover different type of characters. With "Arrow" we have a more human based set of characters, both vigilantes and villains. They don't have powers, but come armed with very high skill sets, capabilities, or weapons. Even when it appears that some have super-powers, it is usually injected into them and in some cases the effects can be reversed. With "The Flash" we now have metahumans. Starting with The Flash and will be quickly exploring characters with superhuman abilities due to the explosion at S.T.A.R. labs. We've seen Weather Wizard in the pilot, and we already know that Reverse Flash aka Professor Zoom and Killer Frost will be appearing in the series. So we have humans and humans turned into super humans. This leaves the door open for Supergirl and the off-world characters aka the aliens. Although we don't know very much about the series yet, it is almost safe to assume that there will be other visitors appearing both as friend and foe for Kara. Superman, Martian Manhunter, Brainiac, and Darkseid are just some of the many possibilities here. This series also raises the chances of seeing Green Lanterns making a television appearance. Sure it could all be far fetched, and never happen, but it may not be. Television series are a lot bigger than they were before when sitcoms were more the norm, with the quality of shows seemingly increasing with each passing season. "Arrow" leading man, Stephen Amell, has said that they are planning to create their own Justice League for television. So, I am sure he would be open to adding Supergirl and her world to the mix. Although I would "spin her off" from "The Flash".
If all of this were to happen, we could see a three show cross-over. Not even sure if that has ever happened before, so it could be historic. Which would be a pretty good achievement for the Nerd culture. Personally, I would have the cross-overs, but then would take things up another notch and have a multi-part television movie. That would be amazing, if done right.
